- A Limited Access Teen Card allows the child to borrow materials from the children’s or teen sections of the library. The teen section contains materials intended for teens ages 13 through 18. This card does not allow checkout of digital materials or access to interlibrary loan services.
Parents and guardians wanting guidance on choosing which library materials are appropriate for their children may want to consult the Parents’ Guide to Library Collections for Youth.
All notices (for holds, overdue items, etc.) will be delivered to the email address or telephone number listed by the parent or legal guardian on the youth card application. The parent or legal guardian is responsible for all items checked out on the child’s card.

Staff are happy to work with those individuals to accept alternative documents, including a letter on institution letterhead from an assisted living facility stating the applicant is a resident, if that applies. Please send an email to circulation@irvingtx.gov or call 972-721-2628 and ask to speak to a member of the Circulation staff to discuss options.
A card issued via this method has all the same privileges as any other Full Access library card. Family members, caregivers or friends can pick up holds or check out library materials on someone else's behalf.
Please be aware that the account holder will be financially responsible for any materials checked out on the card, so patrons should choose the people who have access to the card carefully.
