Dental Amalgam Permits

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) established Effluent Limitations Guidelines and Standards to reduce mercury-containing amalgam from entering municipal wastewater treatment systems, also known as publicly owned treatment works (POTWs).

Compliance Requirements

To ensure simplified implementation for dental offices, the rule requires:

  1. Submission of a One-Time Compliance Report to the City of Irving, the designated regulatory authority.
  2. If a dental office changes ownership or modifies its operations, a new compliance report must be submitted within 30 days of the change.

For more information or to submit your One-Time Compliance Report, contact the City of Irving Water Utilities Department at (972) 721-2281.
