Irving City Council Calls Special Election on City’s Future with DART

By a vote of 9-0, the Irving City Council has voted to call a special election on the city’s future with Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). The item will be placed on the election ballot in May 2026 allowing Irving residents to determine whether the city should remain a member of DART or withdraw and pursue alternative transit options tailored to the community’s needs.
