Water Distribution


The City of Irving’s Water Utilities Department plays a vital role in providing safe, clean and reliable water and fire protection to a population of over 264,000. With a complex 735 mile network of water mains, pumping stations, storage facilities and treatment systems, the city delivers high-quality water while maintaining the infrastructure needed for future growth.



Key Components of Irving's Water Distribution System:

  1. Water Pumping and Distribution: The department efficiently manages raw water pumping and ensures the continuous distribution of potable water, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.


Irving's water distribution system consists of four pump stations:

  1. Carbon
  2. Hackberry
  3. MacArthur
  4. Northgate

TCEQ Requirements

The distribution system meets and exceeds all Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requirements and maintains a superior water quality rating.
