Neighborhood Planning Ground Rules
To ensure a respectful, inclusive, and productive planning process, all participants — whether attending a meeting, sharing feedback or serving on the Neighborhood Support Team — are asked to follow these basic ground rules.
- Respect all voices. Every person’s opinion matters. Listen actively and allow others to share their thoughts without interruption.
- Speak from your experience. Share your ideas and concerns honestly, and be open to hearing different perspectives.
- Assume good intentions. We may not always agree, but we are all here to work toward the best future for the neighborhood.
- Stay focused. Keep comments and feedback related to the topic or goal being discussed.
- Be solution-oriented. Express concerns in a constructive way and be open to working together on ideas for improvement.
- Be mindful of time and space. Make room for everyone to participate, especially those who may be less comfortable speaking up.
- Honor the process. The final plan will reflect a wide range of community input — not just one voice or perspective. Everyone’s contributions help shape the result.
