Request a Hearing
If you received a citation in Irving and want to dispute it or discuss your circumstances, you have the right to request a Pretrial Hearing. Or, you can hire an attorney to represent you.
Pretrial Hearing
If a trial is requested, the defendant will be scheduled for a mandatory Pretrial Hearing. The purpose of the Pretrial Hearing is for the city prosecutor and the defendant to have an opportunity to discuss available options to resolve the case. If the case is still unresolved after the Pretrial Hearing, it will be placed on a court docket for trial (before a judge or jury).
NOTICE
Please be advised that pursuant to Procedural Standing Order 25-007-MA, effective October 13, 2025, all motions for continuances for cases set for trial, except for emergency motions for continuances, will have to be filed with Court Services at least five working days before the scheduled court date. All motions for continuance shall contain 1) the cause number, 2) the style of the case, 3) the date and time of the setting for which the motion is filed, 4) the specific facts justifying the motion, and 5) a certificate of conference indicating the agreement or disagreement of the opposing party.
In addition to those requirements, emergency motions for continuance will have to recite the underlying facts giving rise to the motion which could not have been discovered through the exercise of due diligence at least five business days before the trial date.
If your case is in warrant status, you must appear in person at the court clerk window to enter a plea of not guilty, and you will also be required to post a cash bond in an amount equal to the balance of the violation.
