Neighborhood Community Involvement

Irving neighborhood associations are a vital part of the community and have long participated in a variety of activities and projects such as park developments, scholarship programs, school supply drives, security lighting projects, street improvements, tree plantings, youth activities and more.

City Publications

City Spectrum

The resident newsletter, City Spectrum, is mailed to every residential postal customer in the city on a monthly basis. The award-winning newsletter serves as a main source for city information.

City Spectrum Briefs

Irving water customers receive City Spectrum Briefs, a single-page publication, every month with their water bills. The insert provides details from various departments in an easy-to-read format.

City Spectrum Digital

Email subscribers get a weekly dose of news and announcements, as well as upcoming events in City Spectrum Digital, the city’s electronic newsletter.

Irving Community Television Network (ICTN)

ICTN provides live coverage of government meetings along with news, sports and entertainment shows.

Irving Neighborhood News

Neighborhood News is a weekly email newsletter to the city's neighborhood association leaders and members. The newsletter includes city news updates, upcoming events and inclusive neighborhood content.

City Boards and Commissions

Residents who would like to serve their city are encouraged to apply for a volunteer position on one of Irving's many boards, commissions and committees. Boards and commissions advise the City Council on a variety of issues and play a significant role in maintaining interaction between residents and city government.

Neighborhood Watch

The Neighborhood Watch Program is a team effort between local residents and the police to keep neighborhoods safe. Think of it as neighbors looking out for each other—kind of like an extra set of eyes and ears for law enforcement. It’s not about patrolling the streets like superheroes, but more about staying alert, reporting suspicious activity and helping build a stronger, safer community.

Community Police Academy

The Community Police Academy is designed to provide the public with a working knowledge of the Irving Police Department, as well as its’ personnel and policies.

Citizen's Fire Academy

The Irving Fire Department Citizens Fire Academy (CFA) is a program designed to inform the residents about the city’s fire department, including topics on equipment and operations, fire prevention, hazardous materials, fire codes and more.

Irving 360° Civic Academy

The Irving 360° Civic Academy was designed to give participants a behind-the-scenes look at daily city operations and encourage civic engagement.

Keep Irving Beautiful

Keep Irving Beautiful is a dedicated group of volunteers and staff committed to developing solutions to littering and establishing a clean Irving community.

Green Neighbor Program

The Green Neighbor Program is designed to foster resident awareness and encourage best practices of an environmentally friendly lifestyle. This voluntary program encourages residents to evaluate their current practices and determine new ways they can live a greener life.
