Irving Firemen's Relief & Retirement Fund


The Irving Firemen's Retirement Fund Board ensures the funds are properly dispersed to retired Irving firefighters. The Fund's governance is provided by state statute under Vernon's Civil Statutes Article 6243e, also known as the Texas Local Fire Fighter Retirement Act (TLFFRA) and by the Texas Government Code.

The statute provides that a local Board of Trustees administer and manage the operations of the Fund. The Board was established in 1945 and is made up of seven (7) members:


  1. The Mayor or Chief Executive Officer of the City or their appointed delegate.
  2. The Chief Financial Officer of the City or the appointed delegate.
  3. Two civilians who reside in the state of Texas who are appointed by the Board.
  4. Three active firefighters elected by the firefighter members of the Fund.

  6. Brian Dickerson, Trustee: No term limit
  7. Bret W. Starr, Trustee: No term limit
