Look through a list of fire-related events that took place in the 2020s.
2020 - Current
- On May 17, 2021, Station 4 was relocated to 800 Metker Street. The property on which the station is built was donated by the Toler family and was once part of the Toler Family Farm, established in 1873. The old Station 4, located at 3303 N. MacArthur, now serves as the office for Battalion 1 and the Fire Prevention Investigations team.
- On July 19, 2022, the Irving Fire Department responded to another landmark fire, a four-alarm incident. The Comfort Inn, located at 5000 W. John Carpenter (Highway 114), caught fire.
- In August 2024, the Irving Fire Department expanded once again. After many years of effort by the city and IFD, the new Central Station opened.
- On October 1, 2024, Medic 8 was put into service as a full-time ambulance at Station 8 to serve the growing Irving community in the Las Colinas area.
- October 1, 2024, also saw another loss to the Irving Fire Department. FEO Joshua Brandes died in a motorcycle accident. Although this was an off-duty accident, it was publicly mourned by the department as the loss of a brother and long-serving member of the IFD family.
- 2025 marked our centennial year—100 years of the Irving Fire Department. Steeped in tradition and forward-thinking, the Irving Fire Department will continue to provide excellent customer service and aggressive firefighting tactics for many years to come.
