City of Irving Social Media Disclaimer

The City of Irving uses social media platforms to provide timely and accurate information, engage with the community and promote city services, programs and events.


These pages are typically monitored during business hours and should not be used to report emergencies. The City of Irving may not be able to respond to all comments or messages. Please avoid profanity, personal attacks, bullying or use of incorrect information.


By engaging with a City of Irving social media page, you agree to adhere to the terms and conditions of use set forth herein. This is a limited public forum. As a limited public forum, posted comments containing the following are prohibited and the City reserves the right to remove/hide the following types of prohibited comments:

  1. Comments that are not within the scope of the topic of the original post.
  2. Advertising or commercial promotional announcements of any kind.
  3. Comments that do not comply with state, local, or federal laws, including federal copyright laws.
  4. Comments containing obscenity or pornographic content.
  5. Comments that threaten or advocate violence or unlawful activity.
  6. Comments that are patently defamatory or discriminatory based on race, age, religion, gender, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, veteran status or any other legally protected class.
  7. Comments and text that violate the platform’s usage policies, including text on graphics, images and photos.


Some of the links on the city’s social media pages may lead to resources outside the City of Irving’s municipal government. The presence of these links should not be construed as an endorsement by the city of these sites or their content. The city is not responsible for the content of any such external link. The responsibility for content rests with the third-party organizations that are providing the information.


Be aware that all comments and messages posted to a City of Irving social media page are subject to the Texas Public Information Act and may be archived pursuant to records retention policy, regardless of if the content is removed or hidden.


Do not share personal identifying information on a City of Irving social media page. If you have a private matter to discuss, contact the city directly through official channels.


The City of Irving reserves the right to update these terms at any time without notice.


The City of Irving has an important interest in assuring the accuracy and consistency of information associated with our social media sites. The city also respects the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and the constitutional right to freedom of speech. These terms and conditions establish guidelines for the public’s use of social media that balances these values. As a general rule, the City of Irving will not hide and/or delete comments solely because such comments are critical of the city or its officials.
